Like. Totally. Not.

This week a brilliant video which speaks for itself (at least in the Anglo-Saxon world):

You’ll find it – and other thought provocations – on Ruthercast, a fledgling YouTube channel of  ‘inspiration for curious minds’.

CALL TO ACTION

Like a magpie, I pick up ideas along the way – but all any of us can do is skim the surface.

I’m sure you have recommendations of other great speakers, presentations or performances that have moved you, inspired you, set you thinking. Do please send me the details.

The more you offer, the more we’ll all get back. Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

He’s called Taylor Mali. He’s a US teacher who’s made a name for himself as a Slam Poet. He came into view with a performance about his vocation; look for ‘What Do Teachers Make?’ on any of the video services.

Aside from the vicarious rant about the current speech milieu, the main reason for posting is that I think communicators – which means anyone in a leadership role – can learn a lot from poets and poetry. Not so much the rhyme or met am often astonished at how much can re, but the economy. Ibe conveyed, with absolute accuracy, in such a small space.

Paul – this is an absolute corker of a post. I will use this over and over in my battle against consultant speak. It is, some might say, right in the sweet spot of my needs, going forward, and will help me architect my campaign as I drill down to the fundamentals. You know what I mean? Like. Totally. Yes.

As the parent of a 13 and 11yr old. This is unfortunately the sad state of their articulation… The idea of reading of book has almost become a outrageous as suggesting they go outside and play…
