Excellent and nicely provocative, Paul. I think there's one additional aspect that warrants attention. Rightly or wrongly, there's a lot of truth in the maxim "You only get one chance to make a first impression" not least because too many of us assess people on the basis of their outward appearance without taking the time to dig deeper into all the things you highlight as being of the greatest importance. Perhaps we (and I hope thee and me can be excluded from that 'we'!) need to change the basis upon which we judge folk so that they can focus on substantive stuff without fear of being overlooked. Just a thought.

I'm totally with you, Paul. Personal Branding gets a bad name when folks describe it in such a trivial way. As I see it, personal branding is simply about showcasing your unique skills and expertise while providing value to others. Very little to do with what is on the outside, as you mention. A personal brand can't be bought, it must be earned.

Good stuff!
