How true - and another inspiring read, Paul. Stuck in a rut is a wicked place to be, even if it is a fur-lined one...
PS Thirty years since her first hit? #onceagainimremindedofmyage

I'll drink to that. And in a world where people are thankfully taking the time to recognise achievement by those in their teams with the immediate and sincere 'thank you', I think it's even more important to thank those we don't see but upon whose labours we depend. Grea post, Paul.

Certainly in a law firm, the non-lawyers are often under-valued but critical both to service delivery and the fabric of the organisation. Easily identifiable when there's a problem (my laptop's not working, my diary's a mess, this appraisal system is horrendous, the client's invoice is wrong) but invisible when everything hums along without a problem. Collectively, the knowledge workers need to show them some love.

So true! Reminds me of a team development session early in my career when introverts were given the floor to comment on what it feels like for them to work with extroverts.........Ouch, they didn't hold back!

It's part of the GE Leadership model. Engaging the best ideas from your entire team gives you the best chance to make a good decision. More than that, it builds followership.
